The drivers side headlight on my 96 explorer keeps blowing. The last bulb I installed lasted all of two days. I'm just wondering if I need to keep away from the extreme bright headlights or if there is a wiring issue. Also, I never touched the bulb with my hands. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

output voltage high from alternator?

I was having a problem like this that ended up being water in the housing. The water would drip on the bulb and bust it. I drilled a small hole in the bottom of the housing after cleaning it out and have had no problems since. Hope this helps!

Check the earth. It wouldn't hurt to attach a ground wire directly to the bulb.

this usually happens because there's water in the headlight. as soon as water hits the bulb it will explode. also, never touch the glass part of the bulb with your fingers. doing this will also shorten its life.
