Heated mirrors on 03 Explorer Sport?

Trying to find out if it's possible to convert the oem power
side view mirrors with puddle lamps to heated power mirrors
with puddle lamps. I've got the '03 Ford wiring manual
for the Sport/Sport Trac and it doesn't mention anything
about heated mirrors...so I assume they were'nt availiable
even on an upgrade package. I also don't see them available
on fordpartsonline.com or any other aftermarket online sources.
I did find an outfit (muth mirror systems) that might work if
you upgrade to their signal type side mirrors by using one of
their upgrade modules...but it seems like a bit much pricewise
and timewise.

Does anyone know if the heated mirrors from a 4 door explorer
(most likely any Eddie Bauer or Limited) will bolt up to the
2 door sport without modifications? If I can at least find mirrors
that bolt up...then I can try to figure out how to wire them.

Also...does anyone know how the heated mirrors work? Are they
strictly activated by a thermostat and on all the time while the
key is on???or is their a separate switch???or perhaps they're
only activated when you have defrost on? (or a combination
of a thermostat and switching setup)? May also be linked to
a timing function in the GEM module?

i have an 04 eddie bauer 4x4. the side heated mirrors are activated when i turn on the rear window defrost. hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can get a set of the heated mirrors and
hook them into the rear defrost circuit,
