Have a 93 Ford Explorer and heater just statred blowing cold air? Fan works great, both heater hoses are hot going into the firewall, thermostat works good, coolant level is normal in radiator/coolant recovery tank.Everyone talks about blend door , blend door actuator and temperature control valve (which was added in 1994. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks...

If it has the temperature control valve that bypasses the heater core, then you should check the hoses going into and out of the heater core to be sure that the valve isn't just stuck on bypassing the heater core.

If it has no bypass and the heater hoses go right into and out of the heater core, but the heater core doesn't even get warm, then it's likely clogged and you'll want to either flush the cooling system and/or pull the heater core and flush it out with a hose / snake it with a coathanger, or replace it if it's really bad.

If the heater core gets warm/hot but there just isn't any hot air, be sure the fan comes on - if the fan doesn't come on to blow the hot air, then you'll probably need to replace the fan motor.

Heater not working

The 93 Explorer does not have a heater valve and both hoses are hot going in and out of the heater core, plus the fan works fine ? Thanks

On a long shot--the heater box might be all clogged up with leaves and debris blocking air flow over the heater core. Remove the blower fan to inspect.

You might need to inspect the cable that should be connected to the temperature control slider. If there is little to no resistance when changing the temperature slider to hot from cold, the cable might have broken or is otherwise damaged or disconnected, so it never opens the blend door/diverter to allow the hot air into the vent system.

Thanks Anime for catching the heater control cable, it just popped off...
