Just browsing through the shop manual looking for info on the blend door, it looks like it would be the same proceedure for the heater core replacement as trhe entire dash needs to be removed. WHAT THE *&&^)( is FORD thinking? My ol Ranger had a access panel to remove the heater core, it made it a 10 minute job.

Is it a pre-req of a Ford engineer to make the littlest tasks a nightmare?

Looks like you even have to evacuate the Freon to remove the evaporator to get to the nuts that hold the heater/vent assy.

Maybe Ford just should have welded the whole assy in place....

on a better note and idea they should just fu*king give up all together! they are trying to see if they can cram the biggest **** into the tiniest of places..... If you wanna know what i think.. well most dont but im gonna say it anyway. They are trying to make it impossible to work on you vehicles these days. they want all the money all the work do-it-yourselfers are going to suffer big time soon its a conspiracy they are making them impossible to work on so they can make MORE money as always with big corps. ARGH it pisses me off:banghead:

I'm facing the same thing you are, my HC blew up last week, and this weekend I'm replacing it. I'm not looking forward to it, but look on this side of the coin, it's not any harder than replacing it on my old '76 Chevelle
