explorer 2000 XLT
Hi my name is Felipe. Just moved to live in Houston.

I bought an explorer 2000 xlt 1 week ago.

The mechanic said it needed tune up. He changed:
(invoice description)
spark plugs
spark plug kit
air filter
fuel filter
link kit
a/c belt
oil filter + oil
-----------------
total $491.59

What is spark plug kit?? (wires connected to spark plugs don't look new)

What is link kit?

Do you think spark plugs are new?? (I took out one of the new ones)

Last question,

what is this for?? It was connected to positive side of the battery. Now is not.

Depending on how many miles you have put on the plugs, they look pretty new. I have no idea what a "spark plug kit" is, that's questionable... And "link kit" is odd as well- I would ask him what they were. The price for parts and labor however, doesn't seem bad to me for what was done- if it was all done.

The thing on the fenderwell that was hooked to your battery is a fusable link most likely used for an aftermarket amplifier that was in the truck hooked to a subwoofer box. If you don't have a need for loud music, pounding bass, or giant speakers, you don't need it. :)

Welcome!

Welcome to this forum! It's always a good idea to have them give you an explanation of what you are paying for. I once bought some tires in Sears, and they had numerous things on the bill such as: tire valve, tire disposal fee, wheel balancing, mounting, rotation, tax, etc. All I wanted was a tire! They removed some of the miscellaneous charges on the bill after I spoke to them.

welcome felipe
