Noobe to the Explorer scene. I have an 02 Ranger 2wd daily driver and am researching / looking for an older Explorer to take off road and beat the crap out of. Without opening a can of worms, your opinion of the best years for 6 cyl models is appreciated. The simpler the truck the better - I don't want / need all the Eddie Bauer crap.

I'm sorry - the above Eddie Bauer remark wasn't meant to insult anyone. I don't care for frills on my vehicles but it works for other people. Please don't take offense to my ignorant, rude remark - too often I speak before I think.
