Did this happen suddenly? As in, the brakes worked fine yesterday and now the pedal goes to the floor?

How's your fluid level? If it's low, top it off, park in a clean place on your driveway and check in the morning to see it there's any fluid on the ground.

it suddenly started to happen - literally drove in to the grocery store and they worked fine - pulled out of the store and my foot when to the floor.

the fluid is topped off - I checked it. I park in a garge (for my house) and I can tell when there is oil on the floor) and the floor is all clean.

THanks a lot for the help

John

Hi John,

Do you hear scratching noice when you use the brakes?, it can be a brake pad that lost its material, it happened to me once and was just like that... dont use it until you determine what is because if its that, you surely are scratching your brake rotors (I dont remember how much did I payed for it when happened to me but I do remember it wasnt cheap)....

Regards,

GP

if you pump the pedal to stop and it works until you just ho;d the pedal then it goes to the floor it sounds like the master cylinder to me

well - i took it to ford - (unfortionately it was the only shop that was open on Saturday)

they thought that it was the Master Cylinder but they have to do some tests to make sure. Hopefully it will be done today.

If it is the Master Cylinder, how much do you think that it will cost?

Thanks
John
