Help- Charging AC system

I have a 1994 explorer R134A air conditioning sytem in my 90 Ranger 4.0L . (i just did an engine conversion) Anyway...... I bought the cheap r134a kit to refill my completly empty system. The r134a refill can has two ways to hold it. My question is; DO I HOLD THE CAN UPSIDE DOWN SO THE LIQUID COMES OUT, OR DO I KEEP IT RIGHT SIDE UP FOR THE GAS. Please help!
