I was trying to install an extra 12-volt outlet in my center console and had some trouble with the wiring. I was wondering if it was possible to just tap into the standard outlets wires instead of grounding it and running it to the positive battery terminal. I gave it a try by tapping into the standard outlet wires but then the extra one wouldnt work.?????Any suggestions????

you mean like an extra cig lighter outlet?

you can run it to the pos term on the battery and it'll work just fine..
if thats even what your speaking of

You gotta make sure the hot wire is on the center pin and don't tap the grounds just make a new ground by screwing into some metal. Does whatever you tapped into still work? if not check the fuse. For a power outlet you want it fused. I just ran a hot wire off the fuse panel. Get a volt meter and check the wires.
