The door to my '99 XLT 5.0 AWD was left open in the garage all night, and without surprise it wouldn't start the next morning. I tried to jump it, first with my 4 cyl Honda Accord, then with my V8 TownCar. That didn't work, and I tried to charge the battery, without success. I replaced the original battery, figuring it had a dead cell. The X now cranks very hard, but will not turn over. It isn't the inertia switch, and I can't believe the fuses are the problem. What do I need to do?

Welcome to the site.. By chance is the theft light flashing when you are cranking the motor over.

Yes, it's flashing. What does that mean?

flashing is good.

Run a fuse check.
