The tranny in my 99 ex will not engage any gear. When you put it in gear it is like you are in neutral or park instead of in gear. Anyone with any ideas please help. I think it has a 5r55e or w tranny. It did not slip at all before, it just suddenly quit working. HELP PLEASE!!!!:banghead:

Have you looked underneath for obvious things?

Such as the linkage connections? Does the gear selector handle feel sloppy or tight? Can you feel the shifter clicking into gear?

Have you looked at your driveshaft? Is it still on?

If those things seem alright, can you see if you have a trans fluid leak? Have you checked the trans fluid level? The Transfer-case fluids? (if it is awd or 4x4).

IF it is AWD or 4x4, the T-case might have a problem. It is not always the transmission.

Everything you mentioned seems to be good or in good working order. It is a 4x4, but I don't see how the transfer case could be causing this problem. It will occasionally, over the past couple of days, engage into gear and pull itself, but that only lasts for about 200 or 300 feet. Then it is like it has shifted into neutral and it justs sits there and revs no matter what gear you select. Is it possible that it is electrical? Possibly a servo(s), hopefully external, or possibly the electronics inside the tranny?:dunno:

That wouldn't be good working order. What do you mean by "engage into gear and pull itself, but that only lasts for about 200 or 300 feet. Then it is like it has shifted into neutral and it justs sits there and revs no matter what gear you select"?

Is yours the push button four wheel drive?

When you put it in gear it is like it is still in park or neutral, the transmission is not engaging into any gear ( P R D 2 1). It has a selector knob for 4x4.
