A few weeks ago my Explorer started "sputtering". It feels as if its not getting enough gas. Then the "check engine" light came on. I thought maybe the fuel filter could be the problem, but I changed it and.. no fix. Has anyone had this problem before? I'm just looking for a possible fix before I take it in to the dealer. It's a 1996 V8. Thanks!

I had the same problem.....its most likely the vaccum hose...one of them at least. Just pop the hood while it is running and see if u can here an air leak (the vaccum hoses are located in front of the driver side). If so, just reconnect the vaccum hose and it should fix it...it fixed mine. Good luck!!

charcoal filter

Have the charcoal filter checked out in the back where the gas tank is! Check out my post in Rough Idle. I had the exact same problem with the rough idle, and the check engine light. Once, I had that filter cleaned out, it finally corrected the problem!
