Help to install a new stereo for the 2001-2003 Ford Explorer SPORT

i had the old unit, that came with single disc and casette player.

I removed it using fords DIN removal tools ($6)

now my new Pioneer stereo is too small (vertically speaking), so there is a hole in the bottom(or top)

I was wondering if THIS install kit would work on my 2001 ford explorer sport.

Also, how do i go about wiring it? I read something about a wiring harness, but do not understand if it is REQUIRED, or wat...

and you dont need a wiring kit, but if you dont get one youll have to splice the wires together.

by a wiring harness since it sounds like you have not idea what your doing its just plug and play
