Perhaps a bad coil. Does it make the vibration in neutral too? How strong of a vibration is it?

:nono: for same day bumps

Its getting worse! It only does it when i apply the gas. when i let off it goes away. i rotated the tires with no change and everything in the front end is tighter than your little sister. please help! the tranny mount and motor mounts seem to be in one piece, and the drive shafts appear to have normal back lash play. any more ideas? - Adam

i dont know how it could of bent. i never hit anything or have been offorad ever. ill pull the front one out and see if it goes away. thanks :)

perhaps a bad CV in the front as well

i replaced them 3 years ago but is there any way to check? my rig is stock so not like thay are at harsh angles or anything

problem solved! my rear u joint was completely toast. guess it should be at 158000 and no grease fitting! It didnt look bad at all until i got closer and saw the extreme play in it. now i cruise at 80 and theres no vibration at all! feels like a brand new truck!

Update! i found out why everything in the rear has gone to hell! I had a broken leaf spring on the passenger side. the "eye" of the leaf spring was cracked in half! what are the odds of that? i dont tow or anything. hopefully this will solve all my problems. anyone have a used leaf spring for a 98 4x4 explorer rear spring code BF? used would be best, then i just need to buy one and it will match the sag of the other one.

Vibration

I had the same vibration on my 2001 XLT 5.0 and they told me I had a bent drive shaft. I never hit anything either, however, they proceeded to straigten it. Afterwards, it vibrated worse, took it back to the dealer and they told me I had a binding U-joint. Now, I asked them why with a drive shaft push and pull, why did they put an old U-joint back in? The dealer replaced the u-joint, and now the vibration is... not as bad, but still there. Took it back on 12/08/2007 and told them to check it again. I also had the camshaft position sensor problem and they are repairing it also.

I have 189k miles and it still runs like a good vehicle, I plan on keeping it if the dealers will get some competent mechanics! I suppose I could change dealers, but I am the one that likes to make the people that created the problem fix the problem. Then I change dealers.

I am also considering purchasing a 2008 XLT, but the V8's are hard to get, should I go with the new V6 or stay with a V8? (I am a true red-blooded American that likes POWER).
