i read about hooking up the pressure gauge to the brake booster, but i'm not sure how exactly this works.

someone care to explain this to me in more detail?

*edit* trying to vacuum test the back pressure of the cat

Where did you read that? And what are you trying to test, the motor vacuum or if the booster is leaking off?

What are you trying to do? I'm just not sure what you are asking.

sorry i guess my post left that out.

i am trying to test the back pressure for the catalytic converter

I'm not totally sure about this but it looks like you should see less than 16 inches/Hg at 2000 RPM. If any more than that then there is a restriction.

Hook up your gauge to an intake manifold vacuum source (any port at the vacuum tree should work) and run the motor at 2000 RPM. Remove exhaust components starting at the muffler and retest if you keep getting a high reading. By doing so you test each part of the system until you reach the problem area.

Let us know what happens.
