Hi guys,

I posted this in "Under the hood", but got crickets. So I apologize if you've already read it.

Here's my problem - hose in the bottom of the windshield washer tank came loose and all fuid leaked out. I connected the hose, filled the tank, but it's still not working. Pump is fine as I can hear it working, rear washer worked a few times and stopped (I guess residual fluid). My best guess is that system has air and needs to be bled. Does anybody know how to bleed windhield washing system. Car is 2002 Explorer.

Thanks,
Mike

Only way to bleed it is to fill it up and just hold the wash button. As long as you don't run it out of fluid while doing this you will be fine. If you are low on fluid fill it up. The fluid cools the pump and the easiest way to kill the pump is to run it while the reservior is dry.

It is possible that some crap got in the pump since the hose was off.

There are 2 hoses that are just pushed on and an electrical connection. The pump is just pushed into the reservoir. You can pull the pump off and check it for debris.

Here is a diagram. #8 is the pump, #9 is the pump seal:

Hope this helps out!
