Ok so i searched and have found nothing with this exact problem only with the indicator being off center.

Ok so the problem is no matter what gear i shift into the indicator always says in in park.. gears work fine but my son would like to take his drive test for his lisence so this needs to be fixed..

If you could tell me how to replace whatever needs replacing or any help would be appreciated.

Those threads should steer your in the right direction for the fix since the piece that needs to be tweaked to get the indicator to point to the right gear is probably broken or disconnected in your case. If it's just disconnected, there is a small, thin wire/cord that needs to be put back into place (it's got a loop on the end that fits over a little lever below your steering column).

Pretty simple. If broken, you might find a new indicator at a boneyard. It's a bit more involved to swap it out, but not that hard to do either. There should be threads in the archives on how to do it. That's how I figured it out 4-5 years ago when I swapped in a white faced cluster and gear indicator into my truck (mine was black faced).

Gear Indicator Stuck in Park

Just did mine last month. There is a thread on here, as to how to fix! DON"T buy any part from Ford!! All you will need is a couple of tools...1/2 hour of your time and a 10-24 threaded nut. It is the PERFECT fix.
Mine is dead on now.
