91 navajo
Hi guys im new to here but ive been reading a lot of the threads to try to figure out what is wrong with my navajo so i decided to ask myself.

Its a 91 mazda navajo with 4.0 5 speed and when i start it most of the time i have to try to keep it running and then when it gets running if i try to give it gas it will just cut out and shut off but sometimes it will run and just be missing or sputtering real bad. sometimes when i drive it it jumps real hard and i cant go up hills or anything bc i can only give it a little amount of gas to barely move. Weve been trying to figure out whats wrong with it forever and cant and its killing me. also when i shut it off after running it wont start back up until its cooled down. please let me kno what you think could be wrong with it, its my only vehicle and i cant even drive it.

Please help me nobody i talk to knows what is wrong with it and i need to figure it out!

hey... well hear is just a few thinks to think about and cross off the list if they are ok.

* Weak fuel pump not pumping enuf gas
* Old fuel filter that could be clogged
* Dirty injectors
* Coil pack going bad
* Crank pos/ sensor
* Clogged Cats?

Just a few thought to start with that may help. Seeing as how dont have much to ho from and im just thinkin about it that is where i would start. Or the ECM might be going bad and not working properly to seen all needed info to engine componets.

Hope it may help but if not all i did was try lol Good luck!

well ive changed the coil pack wires injectors from a diff. motor cam sensor from a diff. motor put stuff for cleaning injectors in the gas put heet in the gas for water if water was in there put stuff in the radiator incase something was cracked like headgasket unplugged the maf to see if there was a diff. (none) changed the iac off another motor and did nothing. i took the codes off it but it says koeo 85 and 11 and the koer says 11 im pretty sure...idk ive never did it before

What would make it not want to start after running and getting warm. its also hard to start wen could and at first it just trys to shut of and i cant give it a lot of gas at all or it will stall. when driving it i have to barely give it gas to move or it just putters and misses or sumthing but wont rly go

well i know you said you did something with the MAF but to me that kinda sound like what happened to me when i forgot to reattach the plug to the MAF when i changed the air filter. Could be the timeing is off but im not really sure... ive never got that deep into a fix to know how to do it. Only other thing that may be wrong is the Crank Pos/ Sensor that on the crank pully. In you above post you said Cam sensor... Was that behind the intake or on the crank. There is two different one and sometimes like me i get the confused. I know i might not be much help but bear with me im trying because it seems know one else will and i know how you feel when our only mode of tranportaion take a crap on ya.

yeah sorry it was the crank sensor i just did so much to it that i forgot wat it was

Lol been there done that with mine two. The only real other thing that I could think of is a clogged Catilatic converter causeing it to choke itself out. If you decide to check that just unbolt the flange behind the cat and start it up and see how the exhaust flow is. If it is real weak and you dont have the want or urge to replace them (kinda expensive) ive been told you can take a steel pipe insert it into the opening and just bust a hole thru them for better flow.

KOEO 85 points to the CANP circuit. May or may not be part of the problem -- might be worth investigating. Did you run the KOER test as well?

I'd almost certainly put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see if fuel delivery is up to spec. See the fuel pressure mini diary in Under the Hood.

Any vacuum leaks?

might be the fuel pump. do a fuel pressure test.

no i dont think there are any vaccum leaks. and i dont think it is the fuel pump either i just put another one in it about six months ago and it comes on everythime and sounds fine. like i said in one of my other posts yes i did a koer test and it was like 11 or something and idk how. What do i do to do a fuel pressure test?

could the ignition control module be messing up making it do that? when i hit the gas real fast when its idling it sounds like the air box is sucking a lot at the first hit of the gas but not while reving or anything. Dont kno if theres anything wrong with that. i just need to figure out whats wrong with this thing.

so i just took the fuel filter off and one side the gas was clear coming out and the other side was all brown and dirty gas and i had to shake it to get all of it out. hopefully that will fix my problem but should i buy a new filter or just get all the crap out of this one and put it back on?

would that make it not want to start after it warms up and then sits for like 10 20 minutes?

okay so i guess no one is going to help me with this but changed the fuel filter and plugs and didnt run much better until it ran for a couple min. and then wen i would take the air intake off of the throttle body it ran better and then a little later i tried that and it didnt want to run with it off. ran okay to the gas station sat for like 30 min. and it started but was sputtering until i got moving and it got all that out. When i hit the throttle it sucks real hard in the air box and its loud but only wen i first hit the throttle. What could that be?

also when i unplug the maf it does nothing to the idling of the engine or anything. should it?

It sounds like you have a lot of dirt in your fuel system, you might have to drop and drain the tank, clean the fuel pickup screen and clean or replace the fuel filter again.

yes, it should do something, depending on the elevation and air density of your location and current weather conditions/air pressure, the idle speed should rise or fall...
