Video of whats going on... My 03 explorers check gage light came on and then ac shut off and it started to smoke I pulled over and took this little video. I am stumped since its coming out the top of the engine

Are you talking about the A/C compressor?

What gauge was out of spec inside? I'd imagine you've overheated.

The check gage light was on.

Did you check the gauges to see which one was high?

I would agree with Number4. It seems to be overheated, it looks more like steam, not smoke.

It seems to be coming from the thermostat housing. Possibly the thermostat failed in a closed, caused an overheat and cracked the plastic housing
