hesitation

Hi there. I was wondering if the A/C compressor can be responsible for a slight hesitation feeling while driving. Occasionally my explorer has a very slight hesitation. Two mechanics mentioned the a/c compressor going through cycles can cause this since the rpm's slightly drop when it kicks in. Any ideas? Thanks, Pauly.

I can feel the a/c cycle. The engine control system is supposed to adjust by raising the rpm when the compressor comes on but I can still feel it slightly.

The simple test is to turn off the a/c and see if you still have the hesitation.

If you are a expo-nerd like me then you can wire up a light in the instrument cluster that says "a/c on" when the compressor cycles on.
