Well, at my age (57) it's good being called the 'new' guy.
I am a farmer from central Kansas.
My wife bought a 2008 Mountaineer recently(she is a RN nurse) and we kept our old one a 97 Mountaineer. About a year ago, she hit a deer and the insurance co. totaled it out, so I bought it back from the insurance co. for $248.00. replaced front fender and headlite assembly and am still looking for a grill. We have had this 97 for about 11 years and it has been excellant. Bought it when it had 20,000+ miles on it and now has 186,000 and still going strong.
My son told me about this site and I've been checking it out and reading and planning. Honestly, I didn't think anybody fixed this rigs up like I've seen on this site.....thought they were for gettin' groceries and 'soccer moms'.
Anyways.....you all have inspired me and so far I have done the following:
3" body lift
15X10 Crager D spoke w/fake beadlocks
Kohmo 33X12.5 venture MK 71's
Removed rear cat's/Flowmaster SUV 2.5" dual in/3" single out w/turndown(did run it out the back but was to quiet, so I cut it all off and went with the turndown, sounds great.
Removed running boards (rust..rear part of passenger side rocker panel came of with step)
Fixed that darned door in the heater/AC also.
I am having a blast driving this thing around.
Planning to :
Spring over axle
2" TT /alignment
cold air intake
front skid plate
4:56 gears
Maybe some day I can meet up with some of you for some trails.
Later........grey beard
I do want to thank all here for the great write-ups and how-to's.
