hi i have 91 ford explorer and a few days ago i discover someone was trying to steal my catalytic converter,as it was hanging and bolts were stripped.tighten it back on of course. now my truck has alot of white smoke coming out of my exhaust upon warming up my truck. Then after driving goes away but when i shut off truck i get smoke under my hood passenger side. And my truck seems to run hot to cold back and forth as if it was to over heat..

i need some help with this one please??

My guess is now you have an exhaust leak. The *white smoke* you see would normally be contained and directed out the rear where you would think nothing of it, right? Cold morning - steam out the exhaust till it warms up?

They were actually unbolting the Cats????? New bolts on them? Mine are so rusted no socket will fit because the nuts don't resemble nuts anymore. Cutting torch is the only way they're gonna come off.

The hot/cold issue shouldn't be related to the exhaust. Did them thieving bastids do else that you've missed?

Probably a coincidence. Sounds like a sticky thermostat.

Others may have a different opinion

+1 for the exhaust leak in the engine bay.
