1997 Explorer XLT
Hi I have a 1997 Explorer XLT with a 4.0 SOHC I replaced the PCV valve and the engine is still running really ****ty especially on cold days. I ordered the intake valve gaskets and EGR o-ring and gasket. I am hoping this fixes it but wanted to ask if anyone knows if there might be more that I need to do. I bought the truck in June of 2017 in California then drove it to Texas and it just recently turned the Check engine light on after making a trip to California and back. It acts up more on cold days lately. If anyone could give me any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the engine codes? Tried basic stuff like plugs, wires, air and fuel filter?

The cold weather aspect sure makes this sound like upper and lower intake gaskets.

Good luck!
