When I start up my Explorer it revs up to 2000 rpm then after a few minutes it settles down to around 1200. 1200 seems high for an idle. How do I keep it from starting up so high and lower it once it warms up? Thanks.

Look at the Idle Air Controller. The PCM is trying to manage the idle control but the device is not cooperating. Appears to be stuck open a little.

I took it off and cleaned it out with some electrical cleaner thinking that it might fix the problem. It didn't. I am wondering if a new part would fix it. What do you think?

CEL? No P0171/P0174? Indicates potential air leaks MAFS to TB. Done anything to cause you to suspect that there are air leaks between TB and engine?

Have you cleaned the throttle body? Check for crud around the edge of the butterfly valve.

Pull the electrical connector off the IAC. The RPM should drop to about 500. If no change after you have verified the first two steps replace the IAC.
