I would like to build a simple high idle controller so that I can increase my alt's output when I need to, such as running a high power inverter or jump starting another vehicle. This would include a safety interlock so that it would only engage with the flick of a switch when the car is in park AND the parking brake is set. In order to do this, can I take the cheap way out, and just apply a voltage to the vaccum wire on the cruise control computer? I would make it so that the voltage would be momentary just to open the solenoid a small bit. When it is switched off, the vent solenoid would open for 1 second to release the vacuum. would this work? or are there other details i am missing? This would not interfere with CC, since it is set to work only in park, and CC does not work in park.

Talk to your local Rescue Squad. Their set ups are similar; hit the ebrake in park and the idle will kick up to keep everything charged. Hope this helps.
