My 91 Sport idles @ roughly 1400 RPM when it is warm, and about 1150 rpm when first started in freezing weather. Also it is using 1 qt. of oil every 500 mi's There are no appearant leaks and no smoke. Would anyone have any ideas on what to check or look for?

You will probably want to check your idle air control solenoid. It may be dirty (clean with carburetor cleaner) or it may be malfunctioning.

As far as the oil problem goes, I can't say. But if I were to guess, I would guess that if it is not dripping at all anywhere, then it must be burning a bit, even if you can't see it. Can't imagine anywhere else it could go. There is no oil leaking into the coolant, is there?

I would have to agree with Jambo on the "Idle Air Contol Valve". If you test it it most likely will be your problem. Has for the oil consumption. You probally have some miles on your engine and are just burning it up. To check that do a compression test. You'll probally find it on the low side.
