Alright a quick update on this and of course more questions...I got the truck back yesterday. They fully rebuilt the transmission and I can definitely tell while the truck runs it feels a little more "solid" if you will...but the damn noise is still there! I am completely truck-dumb and wouldn't even know where to begin looking somewhere else. I am going to have a trusted family friend who originally diagnosed the trans issue for me take a second look at it now that it's been fixed. But does anyone have any ideas what else it could be? I can't stand it I want my truck to sound like a truck! lol

Just in case anyone was reading this thread or was curious as to what ended up happening.....I just got the truck back for the SECOND time yesterday after taking it back up to the shop (over an hour and a half drive, but it's the closest thing covered by this extra warranty) because the noise was still there. Well this time they apparently replaced the front plate bearing or something like that. Well I've been fed up with going back and forth so I took a couple laps around the parking lot and the noise was STILL there! So I went back inside and both the transmission shop guy and the Carmax employee proceeded to tell me that they called Ford and the sound is normal. I fully invite all of you fellas to listen to the noise in the video I posted and tell me if yours sounds like this. I asked them basically "so you're telling me that every one of these that Ford sold off the lot sounds like this?" and they looked at me with a straight face and just told me yes. I was so frustrated by this point but I let them know that I was going to have an independent transmission shop look at it and if I came back with anything but a perfectly clean diagnosis I was going to come unglued on these guys....well it's been about 24 hours and I just checked my voicemail - the transmission shop has ordered me a brand new transmission and it'll be here friday at no extra cost to me :biggthump hopefully this will be the end of this problem!

PS: sorry for the obnoxiously long post!! and thanks again everyone who helped me and gave me advice on this!

Ha ha ha!:D I believe you made your point ! ! Good show!!

I haven't listened to the video but they're full of crap saying it's normal and all Fords make a noise.:thumbdwn:

I've heard quite a few bad stories about CarMax.

Yeah, this whole thing has been handled so poorly. Even dating back to buying the truck they weren't cooperative at all.....but I was 19 and it was my first vehicle I was buying so I didn't know any better....Definitely wouldn't recommend them.

But I was definitely proud today when I found out I had made them fold haha hopefully I can just get it fixed and put it behind me.

Well, I know this has pretty much become a dead thread (I wish the problem would die) but it's not been a month and 6 trips up to Fresno (an hour and a half drive from where I live) and I supposedly have a brand new transmission in my truck. But the stupid noise is still there! I am absolutely stumped. I'm going to take it back to my local mechanic tomorrow so they can continue to troubleshoot it. I'm almost tempted just to buy the new exhaust that I wanted a little early so I can just DROWN OUT the stupid noise. Does anyone else have any ideas? It's a real high pitched whine, doesn't matter if I gun it or accelerate slowly, it whines and whines and gets higher and higher and then as soon as the truck shifts out of first gear - it goes away. Video posted on the first page of the thread I believe. I'd really appreciate any help or insight you guys, I honestly don't know what else to do.

Well I just picked up my truck from Ford and they proceeded to tell me the same story I've heard everywhere else - that sometimes these trucks make a whine noise...I really don't know what else to do but I feel like Ahab chasing a white whale now so I'm done. As long as the truck isn't going to fall apart on me.

.....oh and I also scheduled an appt for tomorrow to have a single in dual out Spintech ProStreet 9000 muffler installed tomorrow :D If I can't make the noise go away I'm going to drown it out!
