Please do a search for "Hockey Puck"
There's several threads on mine. The short version is that I didn't have to change ANYTHING to do it for only one inch of lift. And yes, it's worth it; every inch counts.
The ONLY thing is that the two bolts in the "D" position behind your back seat will be too short to use again after the lift; you will have to purchase longer ones; I believe 120mm long. Can't remember the thread size. Take a stock Explorer body mount bolt, go to a good metric bolt supply, and get two to match that are 120mm long.
Hope that helped.
PS/ here is additional correspodence I sent to another member:
Go to the main page and link to our "Tips" section. There are a couple of articles there on Body Lift Installation by David Meisner and Mat Riddle. Print that out and use it for directions. Buy ten hockey pucks and drill 1/2" holes in the middle, then start the installation using the article as a guide.
At only one inch, I did not have to drop the fan shroud, extend brake lines, install a steering column extension, or anything else. With two exceptions, I was even able to use the same body mount bolts since they had plenty of excess thread to reach the extra inch. The two bolts in the "D" position behind your rear seat will be too short and you will have to find a local supplier of good quality metric bolts to buy a longer one. I am sorry but cannot remember the length needed; I THINK BUT AM NOT SURE that they needed to be 120mm long there.
Everything else worked. It was a slam dunk. I do not recommend doing this job alone but I did it in one day by myself.
Two caveats:
1) These are hockey pucks. They are made of rubber. They will eventually deteriorate/rot out, necessitating doing the job all over again. However, once you do it the first time you will be comfortable doing it again and the next time it would only take a short afternoon to replace them.
2) These are hockey pucks. They are made of rubber. They squeak every time it rains!
Hope this helped.
