drove the 93 exp. home today. wanted to look for leaks. the hood never completely would close. the guy at the garage slamed the hood closed. released the handle in dr. compartment. tried to move handle, wouldn't release the hood hook. is the hook jammed? any suggestions? thanks for all info.

Get someone to push down on the hood while you pull the release. Once you get it open, go for the rubber bumpers, one on each side. Spray down the latching mechanism with some white lithium grease.

Try removing the release handle from under the dash. Use two hands and try pulling it again. Sometimes this works when the cable inside gets stuck inside the sheathing. If it works, you know it's the cable. You can replace the cable, or fasten a solid wire (like a paint can handle) to the emergency release tab on the hood latch part that is bolted to the radiator core support.

Still won't open

3 hrs. today. even cut a rib out of the grill below the safety release. pry bars both sides, sounded like it wanted to release, just wouldn't. well there's always tommorrow, someone might have a thought.
