I just bought two antennas one is a 3 foot Firestick II 3 foot antenna
I also bought the spring. It looks huge mounted on top of my X with the firestick Mag Moumt and spring. The 2 foot Firestick II looks better, but I can't get it to match very well. I get near 3 at both ends and near 2 in the center channels. The three foot is great, it's under 2.0 on each end, and 1.0 or 1.1 in the middle. They are both 5/8ths wave antenna's the 3 foot is red white and blue, and the 2 foot is black. I kinda like the black but I am getting used to the LTD series American Pride Red White and Blue antenna Firestick too.

My Question is should I hastle the getting the 2 foot to match for off road, or is the 3 foot and spring going to stay on when it hits branches etc.?

Just keep the 3'. Considering it works much better, I think it's a no-brainer. The spring will help out, too.

Yeah it really is, but I was thinking of getting the quick disconnect, they say that will lower the SWR, and I was afraid of the antenna getting knocked off by trees. The 2 foot antenna looks a whole lot smaller, it's funny that 12 inches makes such a difference it appearance. But like I said I'm getting used to the it it anyway, and the SWR match is about as good as it gets, so...

Anyway thanks for your opinion
Bob

Yeah the 2-foot really does look better, but the SWR is a whole lot higher than the 3 foot. That's my problem, and of course is there an easy fix to the SWR problem. I already have the spring, and it made the 2-foot useable

Yeah I've tried tuning them both, as I said the 3-foot antenna tuned really well, from 2.0 to 1.1 on channel 19. But the 2 foot antenna just will not get down to an over all usable range. On channel.1 It's 2.8 and at channel 40 it's about the same, and on 19 it drops down to about 2.0, or so

u think 3 feet is big? imagine a 102 inch whip with a spring (thats about 9 feet) :p

a 102 inch isnt good for the trail though as its a friggin huge steel whip floppin around

I have co phased 3' k40's. Tune really well, and work great. I had a firestick, that worked good too, but I drove through a parking garage with it and wiped it out. I was at Paragon this past w/e, and Lizardtrac had a breakage. He couldn't reach the staging area with his Rad Shack antenna, but I had them no problem. and people try to make fun of me because my truck looks like it belongs to a trucker with the Cophased k40's:D
