Thanks for the replys everyone. I want to quit so I know I will. I have told my friends and family of my plan and they are holding me to it. I was out side getting ready to smoke and My Girlfriend throughs a glass of water on me and said everytime you go to smoke I will do this. It sucked haveinga glass of cold water tossed in your face when its 16 degrees outside. I have also been trying to change up my routine of things i did when I smoked. I am trying so far I have only had 3 puffs off a smoke since I woke up and 6 thismorning. Thast pretty good for being a pack and half a day smoker. I'll keep ya posted. Patrick if you read this again take my word and never touch one of these nasty filthy cigarettes.

Joe sounds like you have the right Idea now.... I wish I had never started, but -> 20-20 hindsight. At least I am over them now. (Now to work on the weightloss,.....)

The way I quit was I never started in the first place.

Of course, this info doesn't help anyone in the least but maybe you could use this experience in the future when something else comes along in your life that you might have a hard time controlling.

I wish i could have done that. Smoking is the biggest mistake that I have made in my life. I have been smoking for five years and I am sick of it. Still doing pretty good though only have had 1 full cig today. :D

Well I just finished day two. The headache has gone away, im not as fidgity, and I haven't been snapping at people as much as yesterday. I have been smoking for well over 6 years now. I really didn't want to quit smoking but I had to due to other financial obligations. I am kinda glad that I am quitting. It wasn't as hard breathing when I got up today and my body felt all around healthier. Well good luck to everyone.

I had open heart surgery 6 years ago, I was 54. Now, as I told you I was 40 when I stopped smoking, that was 14 years later. There were complications and I was unconcious for 7 days, during those seven days they pumped liter after liter of black bile out of my stomach and lungs, my family said it was amazing. The doctor told me that it was from the amount that I'd smoked, and what I smoked (2-3 packs a day, Pall Mall unfiltered) even 14 years later.

Quit while you're young, or just don't start. Nothing good comes from the habit. If I hadn't smoked for all those years I might not have to carry around these nitro tablets now...

Holy shi* people!

Did anyone just gloss over this?

Ya know those urges I told you I still occasionaly get? They seem to be gone now.

damn. My friend just quit the other day and hasn't smoked since. That really made me start thinking about it. I haven't done anything about it, but I got a cough from being sick a few weeks ago and can't kick it cuz I can't stop smoking. It is kinda pissing me off. I had one in the morning yesterday at 830 on the way to work and waited all day until after work to have my next one at 6pm. I was so f'n pissed by the time 6pm rolled around because all these little things snowballed into a hugeass mess by the end of the day. It took me about 3 hours to get over how shitty I thought my day was. Shoot, and I didn't think I was that addicted. I knew I was but not that bad. I am down from over 1 pack a day to 1 every 2 days. Big f'n deal, but shi* I don't know. Been smoking only 1.5yrs and its already damn hard

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned exercising?? I think the wellness and clear head after a good workout would be a good catalyst to stop. It would also be hard b/c your lungs don't have the VO2 that non-smokers do. And your body will reward you with endorphins--and those are free!!

My .02. BTW, I don't smoke but my Mom has for 40 years. Damn I wish she would quit.
