Just ran across this and checking to see how I can find out if I have it or not. Also wondering if it just reads the psi across the board and compares all of the tires or does it see that 35 psi is seen and it goes from there?

All cars sold after September 1 st of 2007 had to have tpms sensors. I believe all 4th gen explorers have tpms sensors and the system reads each sensor seperately. The data that is transmitted includes temp, pressure, battery level, and the id of the sensor. I dont know what conditions need to be met to set a low pressure light but if a sensors battery dies you should get a light and message for tpms sensor malfunction.

Low pressure is triggered this system around 27 psi

If you really want to know then let some air out of a tire.

Don't do that unless you have an air compressor though.......
