Hello all,

I want to remove the liftgate plastic trim panel on my 98 Mounty to gain access to the lock actuator which doesn't always operate the lock. Can someone point me in the right direction, so I don't trash the plastic?

Thanks a bunch!
Dan

Open the tailgate. Remove the two screws from the pull handle, remove the plastic cover on the driver's side of the 'hump' that covers the window latch and remove the single screw in there. Pull the top and both sides of the trim panel off the tailgate to release the spring clips. Then, push the panel towards the front of the car. (Don't let it fall on your head!!)

Hello Joe,

Thanks again for your help. I should receive the new lock actuator by Friday, at which time I will tackle the project.

Dan

Joe,

Thanks for you help! The trim panel removed easily. I replaced the lock actuator with a new one. Works great.

Front door lock actuators are next...

Thanks,
Dan
