I need to remove the steering column cover to get access to the loose wire that is causing my left rear directional and brake light to fail. How do you get this thing off? I see 2 holes for what appears to be torx screws, but it's difficult to see. Can't focus that close. The holes look round and not torx.
Anyone know what I should use?

Do you mean the covering on the underside of the column? When I removed it, there were three phillips-head screws that I removed, and then the cover unclipped and came off. Each screw was inside a deep recess I believe.

Yes, that is what I am trying to remove.
Mine are not Philips heads and there are only 2 of them. The have a tiny hole in the middle look very odd.

They almost look like rivets.

are you sure you are looking at the correct hole? there are 3 screws that hold the upper and lower shroud, 2 of them are visible below (that removes the lower shroud) and 1 hidden just behind the left bottom screw (this holds the upper shroud). I just replaced my multi-switch and opened up the steering column cover/shroud.

I stand corrected. It is a Philips, but it didn't look like it when I tried to look into the hole. I'm all set now, and thanks to this group, I figured out what was wrong with my turn signal...which brings me to my next comment.
The fact that the wire pulls out of the connector indicates a real lousy design and is inexcusable. This should have resulted in a safety recall. As far as I know, failure of your brake and directional light is a real safety hazard.

Glad to see everything worked out well.

Hey everyone, since this is the same problem I am hoping someone can help out. After I have the cover off what wire would I be searching for that would be related to the rear driver side blinker/brake light? This is driving me mad! Here is what I am seeing, any help would be appreciated.
