I took some kids to a carnival, and on the way back, one of em barfed in my beautiful untainted interior. So, I sopped it up with wet and dry raggs, used prestone foam interior cleaner, in addition to the super vac at the car wash. Stains are mostly out, but show up more as the upolstery dries. Then I got a bottle of febreez auto deoderizer, and used it. Problem. There is still an ever so faint hint of barf smell. I have detailed all the plastic and vinal, and been through every nook and cranny to extract any hidden barf bits. Im sure the smell is in the upolstery, and its not that big of an area. Currently using a scented tree, and the febreez. Any other suggestions?

It is probably in the carpet and into the padding under the carpet, I'd say, and that's why your still getting the smell. You could try a proffessional carpet cleaning service. Or get one of those portable hoover carpet machines. I had a bad ciggerate smoke smell in a vehicle I owned for a while and I cleaned the headliner, carpet, and the seats with a portable carpet machine and the smell dissapeared for me.

Good luck.

You'll have to clean the carpet liner and also the seat foam under the fabric. You may need new seat foam if it's really bad.

u need a chemical that atacks biological things...i dont have the name right off hand..but if worse comes to worse take it to a car wash that does the o zone treatment that will get any smells out

FYI Ozone is one word.
I know what mhn is talking about, we have had thouse guys out at our shop to clean deer guts. Unfortunatly I can not recall the name either, but I know their speciality is cleaning houses that have somke and water damage from fires.
Maybe this will point you in a direction to research.

There is a chemical called Out! that is designed to remove cat spray, urine, vomit, stains, etc. It is an enzyme neutralizer. You can find it in the pet section at most stores. It's quite effective, but you will have to pull the carpet up to get to the underlayment as mentioned above.

When this happened to my dad's Aerostar, we just steam clean the carpet with some Tide with bleach detergent and then we vacuum. We then left it to dry for a whole day. The next morning the interior smelled like fresh laundry.

There's actually some chemical that you can buy that clears everything up. It's some kind of iodizer. We just bought a house with a smoker, used that stuff and everything cleared up.

If it is the same one you are talking about thats in the commercials, its called ServePro. "Like it never even happened"

I was going to say replace it with the smell of urine, or even beer will work. I know that I've spilled beer before (not while drinking and driving) in my X and it stuck around for a LONG time. Vinegar is also one of those smells that lingers forever. Now for getting rid of those smells I have no idea.

ServePro !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is it !!!!!!!!!!
