Hallo everyone,

trying to sell my beloved 1994 explorer but punter wants to know its kilowatt power. I have no idea what he is talking about. Cannot find info anywhere.

Machine is 4000cc and I found technical info that says horse-power
is 292@5700 RPM - can this be converted into kilowatts?

Thanks

Toshka

Not a clue on this one. Why would anyone ask about the electrical energy used? Could he have been referring to what amp alternator? Like 200 amp?

1 HP = 0.747KW so your 292HP would give you 217.7KW

Hope this help!

292 HP x 735.4988 = 214,765.64 KW

Oops you beat me to it.

What I want to know is how did you get 292 horse power?

Same reason someone would want to know the N-m output of the engine.

Not everyone deals in Hp & ft-lbs.

LOL

I design elevators
elevator motors (electric) have horse power ratings in the USA and Killowat ratings every where else :)

I use a simple convert program to convert HP to KW
94 Explorer 4.0L is like 135 HP, not 235 LOL

135 HP = 100.7 KW

160 hp = 119.3 kw
220 FT lbs = 298.3 newtons / meter

Isn't google great...

just type "convert 160 hp to kilowatts" and it gives you the answer.. it works for many things..

I don't know what you were reading that from. Definitely not 292HP and you can't run a '94 Explorer close to 5,700RPM. The computer limit is about 4,900RPM.

lol

hallo everyone,

thanks for all these replies, all very helpful.

To those who asked, i got the 292hp@5700 RPM by googling explorer technical specifications and took it for granted - who am i to argue with numbers?

Selling her as too expensive to run, got smaller baby to run around in.

Thanks again. love and light,

Toshka
