How many miles on your 2ND GEN EX?

Post number 869 has been selected as best answered.

Just bought a 2002 sport 4x4 with 184k on it. Runs perfectly. Do not know much about the history. Engine and tranny strong though.

well my odomoter broke about 3 years ago and it was reading 275K. Since then ive probably put about 10K on her each year, so im Over 300,000 for sure, as to the exact number who knows. But yes i agree, we should start a 300K plus club, and ford should pay us for keeping these beasts running so long.

My 1998 Explorer has 141k on the clock but motor let go and was replaced by a 215k motor and it runs like a champ!

Over 340,000 k with only minor repairs. Change the oil at least once a year.
1999 Explorer Sport 4.0 OHV

127700 o:eek:on a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer :D:exp::thumbsup:

We should start a 300k mile club and ford should pay us for advertising. lol:exp:

I'm in. My 96 XLT has 353975 on the odometer right now. The odometer worm gear was broken for about a year, so I'd guess the actual mile is somewhere around 375000. Original 4.0L OHV V6 and transmission. Just replaced it with a 99 Eddie Bauer V8, so the 96 has been retired.

Almost 202k on my ex. Hope to get 250 out of it.

145k young. Engine and drivetrain run like a charm. See no reason why it won't go to 200k+ with no engine or transmission work. I'm slowly fixing the minor annoyances but I haven't had any serious trouble in the 6 months I've had it.

Right around 150k. No engine, trans, or drivetrain problems in its life. Body and suspension are in the middle of a complete restoration, overhaul, and modification. Barring getting t-boned by a semi or something, I'll keep the ol' girl on the road til the world runs out of gas.

still kickin

285,000 miles on mine.It had 219,000 when I bought it.Cant kill those ole pushrod motors!I always joke that I paid 500 bucks for it but in 3 years ive put $15000 worth of gas in it lol

'01 SOHC XLT 172K rattles quite a bit but runs pretty well, looks like crap
'01 5.0 Eddie Bauer 2WD 180K runs & looks like new - needs nothing
'00 5.0 Mounty 2WD 182K runs & looks like new (will get a radiator soon)
'00 5.0 Mounty AWD 151K runs like new, looks ok (needs rear t-case seal)

180k, runs good but it wont pass a gas station. i love the v8 power, but 15mpg...ouch!

180,000 / 15 X $3.50 = $42,000. :( The Arab countries love us Explorer owners. We should ask them to provide some rebates on parts.

1997 (primary vehicle) just about to hit 173k miles
1998 172k (just got this from my father last year at 163k)

Odometer stopped clocking at 134,444 :( but regardless it's still going on strong for a 96 4.0L Eddie Bauer X. No major work has been done to it, although it does have its troubles :)
