How much is a 2000 Limited worth?

Since I'm trading in my car (HHR SS) for a new Mazda 5 GT for my wife, we will be selling her 2000 Explorer Limited so I can get a smaller car (thinking Miata or Infiniti G20).

The question is, how much should I actually post it for sale for. NADA and KBB suggest around $7k for a clean retail car with trade-in around $5k.

The car is in really good condition and is a spruce green SOHC V6 4x4 with ~88,000 miles.

The car also has every option available including the engine block heater, 4.10 limited-slip rear diff and side airbags.

It does have a couple things here and there, ie the driver side seat heating element needs replacing but everything else is typical wear and tear for an 11 year old car.

So what should I post it for sale at and what should I hope to get for it?

look to see what similar trucks are selling for( selling price not asking price) in your area and act accordingly.

4k is probably about tops.

I agree with turdle. Check your local market to see what the competition is. Some places it could only be 3500, some could be more. Around where I am I'd say 4500-5000 depending. Some people have a few listed similar ex's closer to 6k but they don't sell. 7000 is way too high. Not even the dealers would ask that kind of money.

Gotta disagree with you on that one man. Friendly Ford had like an 89 Escort, with like 100k, looked clean, but they were asking $6000!

I see early 3rd gens in the used lot there all the time for $11-15k.

Yea I guess I have seen that high, but those are the ones that sit around forever because they are asking too much. I did just see someone asking 8k for a 94 Lebaron

Theres a guy selling a similar AWD V8 one for $5k with 172k miles here.

My wife paid $7500 from a Nissan dealership back in '08. The Toyota dealer offered us $2500 for trade-in :-\.

I'd be be happy if I could get $5k for it - then I can get a fun car

They could "ask" all they want... and keep asking... it's what they actually SELL for is what matters. Those KBB /book values are what the dealer publish to make you "think" they're giving a customer a good deal. Nobody's stampeding to buy these due to the gas mileage. You'll see. I was going to sell my 03 early this year, to get a new 2011, but couldn't give it away... so I kept it. I wish you luck, hope you do well.

At my work (ford dealership) we have an 01 limited with 77k that is pretty clean on the lot. They have $8,999 on the window. Once they upload it online I'll post pics of it to compare.

Realistically I would expect anywhere from $4500 - $6000 depending on paint & if there is any rust.

Exactly.

Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Realistically, I can see $3-4k TOPS from this truck (we need to see pics though)
