Ok so I currently have my alpine 9883 HU powering my infinity ref. 6822's (2 ohms) in the front and my polk db 570's (4 ohms) in the rear. My question is if I wanted to use an external amp on these is it ok to use an amp that does 50w x 2 @ 4 ohms and 75w x 2 @ 2 ohms? Both pairs of speakers can handle up to 60w rms. I was just wondering if 75 is too much for my fronts or if it is ok with the gain set properly. Thanks

The amp will put out as much power as you want it to.

It is always good to have headroom...meaning an amp that has more power than the speakers are rated for.

That would be fine as long as you set the gains properly. Start by setting the fronts without the back and then set the back til you like the sound. I have 70 x 4 and I can't even hear the back speakers. You might want to just amp the fronts without an amp on the rears and see how you like the sound. If you want the rears louder then go ahead and amp them too.

k, so I'm looking at either:

50w x 4 @ 4 ohms
75w x 4 @ 2 ohms

or

60w x 4 @ 4 ohms
90w x 4 @ 2 ohms

I know kicker underrates their amps quite a bit, but how about alpine? I can get either one of these on Ebay for ~ $140. Which one would you get? Also, when installing one of these, I just take something like a female spade connector and run them on speaker wire through the door jam and onto the terminals where the after market speaker harness is right?

I use an Alpine Mrp-F450 and I'm more than happy but that is a real nice Kicker amp too. Hmmmm.....Get the Kicker just because it has a little more power. Actually...Either would work fine.
As far as speaker. I ran new wire from amp to speakers recently. It is a real pain in the a$$. Not sure in your year. You could just tap into the existing wire with that much power. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I did that for a while. Running the wire from amp right to speaker is the best way to go if you feel motivated.
