Ford Engineers placed the ECM behind the kick panel on the passengers side in my 1992 Ranger. Unfortunately for me the combination of wet/snowy footwear and heat from the heater had caused higher than normal humidity in that area allowing condensation to form inside the ECM which lead to my current situation of the truck not starting(no pulse to the injectors.).

NOW THE FIX- This worked for me.....

-Disconnect the battery and remove the ECM.
-Dismantled the ECM (remove the board.).
-Clean and dry the housing.
-Spray the board with liberal amount of brake/electrical contact cleaner.
-Using a fine nylon brush, lightly clean the white crusty stuff off the board.
-Rinse the board with more brake/electrical contact cleaner.
-Leave in warm area to dry(I left mine overnight.).
-Spray the board and housing liberally with FLUID FILM, this will help to seal out moisture and prevent a re-occurrence.
-Reassemble the ECM.
-Liberally spray the area around the ECM with FLUID FILM prior to installation.
-Use die-electric grease in the plug for the ECM and reconnect.
-Reconnect the battery and start the vehicle.

:thumbsup:Your done.

Its been two years since I did this and the truck is still running like a top.:D
Don't worry about damaging the ECM, if you have to do this it's already broke and you have nothing to loose.
