How to install roof bars

Dear All

For my Holiday where are this saturday starting I bought a roof box (2.2m and 480l) with roof bar and foot pack:
Thule AeroBlade ARB60
Thule Rapid Crossroad Foot Pack

where do you prefer to fix the Feet on the rack?
some Special Fixing Points?

I don't want that the Box are flying away

Hi Georgi. Didn't your Explorer come with factory crossbars? I know my 2011 Limited did.
I don't think it matters that much where you attach the crossbars as long as the weight of the load is distributed evenly over the bars. Don't forget that the maximum weight is 100 lbs.

No, my one was without factory crossbars, only the roof rails where are standard on the limited.
you're right i read it now in the Manual:

The vehicle’s roof panel is NOT designed to directly carry a load. The

maximum recommended load is 100 lb (45 kg), evenly distributed
on the crossbars. Ensure that the load is securely fastened. When the

rail system is loaded, check the tightness of the load before driving and
at each fuel stop.

Sorry but 100lbs. only the crossbars are around 10lbs, the box around 40-50lbs.
What should i put on the Roof for 40lbs, 18kg?

Interesting point Georgi ! I was going to put a kayak up there. My 2013 XLT did not come with roof bars either.

I was wrong. Just checked some of the pictures I have on my previous 2011 and it did not come with factory crossbars. I must have been thinking of the Highlanders I had before. They came with the bars.
