I want to convert the X to an "Indy stock car" ignition/start set up. The ones with the push button start. Plus an aux. ignition switch.

I did it on my Camaro but I was wondering how hard it would be for the Explorer.

How hard is it to remove the factory wheel lock on the steering wheel? What wire color is the ignition wire and the starter wire?

Thanks.

Try looking at a Chiltons, the bible of all Automotive books.

i could say trial and error, but i would be wrong....

I did a write up on adding a starter button. I had one for emergencies if my ignition switch acted up. I had to turn the key to "on", then push the button instead of using the key.

You just need to get power to the button and tap the signal wire to the signal wire on the starter solenoid.

Alec, got any tips on the ignition wiring and wheel lock?

don't muck with it ;)
