How To Reset ECU

hi there i have an 08 explorer v6 just wondering how do you reset the ecu do you unhook both pos and neg battery terminals or something else and for how long. And once you reset is there any special instructions to follow or what. Thanks

Just based on other vehicles I've done this to (Subaru, Chevy Cobalt), disconnect the negative battery connector for about 30 minutes. This will reset the check engine light but if they are real, the check engine light will kick back on within a few seconds. I haven't had to do this on my 96 Explorer. Haven't had the check engine light come on, yet anyway...
