I recently installed the PIE ipod adapter into my 04 EB which is equipped with the factory rear seat DVD system. I went with the adapter that piggybacks off the DVD to play the ipod. When I did this I was under the impression that the DVD player would be compeltely off whenever I used my ipod. However, the screen stays on as it still is getting power.

The onlyr eason this bothers me is because I listen to the ipod often and don't want my screen getting a burn in of "ford motor company" on it.
I'm thinking the easiest fix is to wire in a simple on off switch to whichever wire powers the screen. So does anybody know which wire I would need to get to to do this?

Somebody on here has to have taken apart their factory DVD system or a wiring diagram of it or some clue as to which wire I'm lookin for here...How about just how to get the system unattached from the roof?

missed this post,
I've been using the RCA's jacks, and my screen is on too, been that way for 2 years now, but with mine i don't see the logo but i can tell the back light is on.

I've never pulled it apart to see what going on. My video drops out every now again, but always returns. . . something lose hopefully, every time i get ready to pull it works, next trip halfway nothing. . .go figure.

For removal i believe there are three screw, one is in the storage bin, other two are easy to see,. .

what PIE adapter did you use? Does it plug in behind the radio or the dvd player?

It's this adapter....

I've since cut the harness that connects to the DVD unit and bought a 12 volt power switch which I'm planning on connecting to one of the wires (hopefully I can find the one that powers the screen, if not, I'll try more wires inside the actual DVD unit).

With that, does anyone have the wiring diagram (pinout) for the DVD harness? It's a 12 pin connector...

I have the exact same X3 system installed in my Ex. I always just make sure the radio is set to AUX (instead of video) so that the screen is black instead of with the Ford logo on... I've only had it for a few months though...
