Hi All :salute:,
finally registered here. been using the site's awesome info for a little while. '02 Explorer XLT that I've owned since '03. Love my truck.
-Had to tear out the radiator last August to replace a cracked hot side reservoir. Had fun with that. That started the motivation and learning process.
-Changed the fuel filter
-Made a pressure brake bleeder out of a large protein powder bottle, ice maker tubing, clear tubing, drilled the stock master cyl cap after removing the rubber liner seal. Cut up a koozie to use as a thick cap seal for the bleeder and can still put the OEM rubber liner back into cap to use. Used my compressor with an air-bleeding blower nozzle, attached to clear tubing, for low pressure. Replaced all of the brake fluid with new. 119k miles...dirty dirty.
-Direct wired a small plug to the battery and out between the headlight and quarter panel. Keep a battery buddy plugged to it to fight the Arizona heat from killing the battery quickly. We'll see how long I can keep the Duralast Gold, that was installed last October.
-Just replaced all of the stock speakers with ALPINE components in the rear (EBAY $75), tweets mounted on the back window pillars facing forward, Sonly Xplods (Walmart $50) in the fronts, all hooked to a Diesel 7004 amp (Friend, free). Kicker comp 12 (7 yrs old) on MTX amp (Amp free on trade). Still using the stock CD/Cassette head. Sounds great though. "Dynamatted" the interior of all the doors and around the speaker holes with Frost King self adhesive butyl rubber/ foil, duct insulation. Works great. $15 for a 12"x15' roll at HD. Used 2 rolls for 4 doors. Hopefully will also help cut out heat and hold in A/C in these Arizona summers. Stuffed a body pillow into the storage hole where the 3rd row seat would go to insulate from "the differential whine"
-Replaced spark plug wires yesterday. Cleaned, filed the ground straps, gaped, and index(keyed) the Autolite platinum plugs. Made a "cyclone" type intake fuel optimizer out of two inch 20 gauge galvanized steel strap with tin snip cuts every 1 1/2" and bent in at 45 degree angles to make the vortex wings. Inserted in the intake after the MAS.
-Cleaned the throttle body when i saw how dirty it was after removing the air intake to replace the left bank wires and plugs yesterday.
-Insulated the inside of the air box with Frost King Foil/Rubber adhesive insulation to ward off engine compartment heat. Also ran a 1 1/2"(?) vacuum cleaner hose from a cut hole in the fog light cover plate (no lights) and ran up into the air box hole; after removing the stock air box funnel from behind the light. Drilled three 7/8" holes in the side of the air box between the side panel and air box, away from the engine.
-I run Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic with a filter change/ oil top off at 5000 and a full change at 10000. Pull 3500lbs of jet ski's and garb to the lakes.

-On the "to do" list
New exhaust
chipped or tuned?
wheel bearings, U joints, grease boot joints, replace torn upper linkage boot
75w 140 Mobil 1 synthetic diff lube ("the whine")
Drilled/slotted Front Discs

Thanks for everything. All tips are appreciated.
She's Runnin' Smooth and I want to keep her that way/ improve.

welcome
