www.kbb.com can give you a better estaimte.. but I guess $10-12k in value
I'm not sure if 98 is when they changed.. whatever they changed.. but most 5.0s have 210.. and some have 215. (HP) torque is in the 280s.. 288 is probablly right. I dont know what the 210hp ones had for torque.. can't remmeber
you'd think that would be it, but i've seen dyno testing of modified stangs that didn't make that much of a gain switching between the gt40 and the gt40p so i don't know how we'd get more than them. maybe the exhaust and the computer tuning etc. changed a bit too?
I cant say for the Explorer 5.0 but in the Mustang world, Ford plaid with the cam for polution and enviromental reasons. from 86 to 93 the mustang went from 190hp to 225 and then back down to 215. They did nothing but cam changes. That would be my guess on the X 5.0 also
half of the 97s have the p's and half don't ford switched em during the year. thats partly why its so confusing for the companies who try to market headers for us and they always have the wrong years listed.
i wonder if that means that your truck should have the higher output? you could have the 215/288 combination... well the lemon version of that.
why can't they leave things alone? thats why my dad doesn't like ford..
you can strap a 97 350 out of a chevy camaro into a 67 chevy truck.. you can't swap intakes with a 95 mustang from a 95 explorer.. that just urks me! just give the explorer 300hp at the flexplate and leave it at that.. stop tweaking.. heh
I have 170RWHP with a catback and kkm.. whatever that equates at the engine.. its not near enough
Maybe since in '97 they used both GT40 and GT40P heads (I think they added P heads towrds the end of the year) they went with the lesser rating of the two for that year? You know?
EDIT: Damn you guys respond quick. Imagine this is up after DarkFox1s post /\
btw I did not have the cone filter like most 95-97s.. I had the stock box filter that comes on the 98-ups.. I remember that being odd when I ordered my kkm.. the guy asked me which I had.. and it just confused me that they would have 2 filters in 1 year
lol, I reply so fast cos I'm basically sitting here staring at this post refreshing my email.. I'm waiting on a reply from a company in my email, and I'm too lazy to start doin my HW yet
you should come up to the Roseville hooters and hang out with a few explorer owners in a few weeks. if you're interested click my homepage and look around a little.
