Hunterdan's 98 Sport

Well, just thought this could use an update for my Frontier. As of today, I managed to get a lift under the front of it. Its only a mild 2" leveling kit, but it is what I wanted. The exhaust has been changed out again, to a cherry bomb vortex kit, 2.25" dual in, single 3" out with a resonator built in. Sounds and performs great for me. I also picked up a superchips cortex tuner back in January that I've been enjoying. Gone is the 0-40 mph throttle limiter. Now I can get true WOT as long as I don't spin and cause it to cut it back down. I may see if henson performance can build a custom tune since they do seem to do nissan work, and he does do superchips. I will be add an AAL in the rear some time soon just to get the back end up a bit.

Well, decided to paint the grille a few weeks ago. I used the duplicolor Shadow paint. I wanted to get a good black chrome look on the grille and emblem. Unfortunately, when I did the grille I used too many coats and instead of black chrome, I had a mostly black grille that looked green depending on how the light hit it. The emblem came out perfect, just what I was looking for. So, instead of trying to strip the paint off the plastic chrome, I decided to just paint over top of it. I used 3-4 coats of a basic high temp black that I had laying around, just to give a good base coat. I then used 3-4 coats of a factory match paint I found at autozone. I used the clear that came with the shadow paint I had. I did 2 light coats of clear, then 2 heavy coats of clear. The outcome was what I was looking for. It looks near factory and I think was one of the best spray paint jobs I had done so far. Next up on the paint list could be the rims. I always like charcoal colored rims and think they would look good on my truck. Here are a few pics.

Looks good Dan, didn't know you were still round the forum.

Yeah, i check in everyday to see whats going on. I know a lot more of the people on here than the other forums, and I try to lend a hand whenever I can.

Do you think you'll ever get another explorer? I know its been awhile since your accident.

Not sure. Trying to talk my girl into getting one. Right now, the truck suits me better than an SUV, unless we are talking expedition or other full sized SUV. With the house, and no one else in the family having a truck, I would hate to not have one. My next truck will likely be a full sized though, having the kid in the back seat is fine for now, but with my girl with me its way too cramped. So my next choice in a year or two might be a 150 or Titan. I like the 150's but theres just something about the Titan that I really like. Not crazy about the chevys. The rental I had was a CC short bed. While the interior room was great, the handling was horrible, felt like I was driving a boat. Where as my frontier feels like a sports car in comparison. By far it is the best handling vehicle I have owned to date. Coming from a rodeo, and explorer.

Yea...I wouldn't think fitting a kid in the back of a Frontier would be that roomy, we're also thinking of getting a 150 or 1500 my dad has an 07 1500 and seems to handle good, we just want to get a pickup so I don't have to haul a trailer everytime I want to haul something.

I've decided that my next project for the frontier is to ditch the plastic drop-in bedliner and go with the herculiner. I also went to home depot and picked up some electrical strut channel stuff. http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053
Some of the frontiers come with an option for a a track system that is mounted in the bed. This stuff is very similar to what the factory uses. My bed has recesses in the bed to mount it, but I still have to drill holes to bolt it down. Once I get all the holes drilled and it mocked up, I will removed the track, and apply herculiner to the bed. I was going to go with the new bed armor from duplicolor, but herculiner is cheaper. I'm hoping to get this done by next friday. I already have the track pieces cut and had the bed liner pulled out to clean under it. I will take pictures of the process and should be able to post them up here some point after I finish.
