HVAC mind of its own

[T&F Explorer]

2013 auto dual climate controls. Driving down the road hvac off it turns on by itself!
Has anybody had this strange issue and how to fix it?

Welcome to the Forum.
Not knowing which trim level you have, if your Explorer has Climate set to AUTO, the system will heat or cool as required.

So if you Exp has the recall done for the exhaust issue, the system will come on momentarily to bring fresh air in should you be accelerating somewhat hard.
