I'm in the same situation with my jeep.

Yeah, I NEED cruise control and horn. I don't like driving a car that flashes dash lights at me.LOL! don-ohio (:^)

I put a new clockspring in my '02 Sport Trac last summer when I added cruise control to a truck that came without it. The clocksprings are different depending on whether you have cruise or not. I don't think there's a big difference between the Aerostars and Explorer/STs in how you access everything. It's pretty straightforward, but you do have to take the lower dash covers off to get to the harness connector as it's way down low. If you got a Ford part, DO NOT adjust it - install it as-is out of the box. I think the factory manual for the ST gives the impression the clockspring needs adjusted, but it doesn't. I need to put a new one in my other truck to get the horn and cruise to work, but I'm not in the mood to spend the $$.

I'm reading your fourm I'd please tell me you have a 429 cobra jet with a six pack. I had a goat and a 340 space duster there's no sound on earth like a six pack..

I had a '74 Ranchero with a built 460 with an experimental 429 CJ six pack. Supposedly no more than 6 of those intakes were made. Timing chain broke, Ranchero was rusty, no $$, so I never fixed it. Sold the intake last year to a friend who planned to put it on a '70 Falcon with a 429CJ from the factory. He arranged for me to buy the intake years ago, so he was the right guy to sell it to. He also has an even rarer (1 of 3) Boss 429 six pack on a black '69 Boss 429 with around 8000 original miles.
