i have 2 problems with my 2008 Ford Explorer XLT 2WD.

1.) when I try to start it, the engine hesitates for like 5 seconds then starts. Just 2 days ago I changed my EGR valve cause my check engine light was on, I thought this would solve the problem but it didn't. Any ideas what it could be?

2.) Once I get it started, when I try to put it in drive it gets stuck and won't budge. I need to force it into drive or reverse etc. once I have driven a little bit it gets easier throughout the day. Any ideas what this could be?

Sounds like your park/lock solenoid under your shifter. Make sure your foot is firmly on the brake pedal before touching the shifter. You should hear an audible "kerchunk" sound when you step on/off the brake pedal while the ignition is on.
